About United Nations Pakistan
In 2012, UNDP initiated “Promoting Employment and Productivity in Garment Industry” (PEPGI), with the objective to increase income and employment opportunities for youth and women and to enhance labor productivity in the garment/home textiles industry. The project builds on the successful public-private partnership model demonstrated through its predecessor project called Gender Promotion through Skills Development in Garment Factories (2006-12).
PEPGI employs three interconnected outputs to achieve its objective. These relate to skills training, capacity development of a local training provider and policy research/advocacy on issues related to growth of garment industry. The overall project has a focus on Karachi, where most of the garment industries are based and draw the workforce from.
Under the guidance of the Project Manager & National Project Coordinator of the Promoting Employment and Productivity in Garment Industry project, the driver will support the implementation of the project and act as transportation focal point for Karachi project office.
